Sanjay M. Thomas, MD

Dr. Kumar is a colon and rectal surgeon who has been taking care of patients in the Hudson Valley since 2012. He is board certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and by the American Board of Surgeons. He is a specialist surgeon in the management of cancers and polyps of the colon, rectum and anus. He also treats patients with Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, benign anorectal diseases and common general surgery procedures. Dr. Kumar typically performs these procedures with the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System when appropriate. Dr. Kumar serves as an associate program director of the general surgery residency and is the program director for the Rectal Cancer Program at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He has been named a Top Doctor in Hudson Valley Magazine since 2016.

Gabi Barmettler, MD is committed to personalizing cancer care to each patient's unique needs and goals as a surgeon. Dr. Barmettler hopes to understand you as a person and understand how your life experiences color your outlook and perspective when it comes to breast cancer and breast surgical care. As a surgeon and an artist, she is committed to oncologic and aesthetic outcomes by utilizing oncoplastic and hidden scar techniques. Dr. Barmettler is trained in breast surgical oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Institute- Brigham. She is interested in health equity and advocacy, with an academic and research focus on breast cancer in LGBTQIA+ patients to improve their outcomes. All patients are welcome in Dr. Barmettler's inclusive practice.

Dr. Hida Nierenburg is double-board certified in neurology and headache medicine. She provides care to adults with headaches and facial pain. She is also passionate about bringing awareness for migraine and other disabling headaches to other clinicians in the region and community awareness to minimize the burden of disability migraines can bring. Dr. Nierenburg's areas of expertise include treatment for migraines and other primary headaches which can include oral medications, botox injections, nerve blocks and some non-medication options. Dr. Nierenburg prides herself in education about headaches which is something she does with patients in order to help them understand the illness. In her free time, Dr. Nierenburg enjoys hiking, exercising and exploring new restaurants.
