Ruth White, MD, PhD

Jeffrey A. Geller, MD, specializes in arthritic disorders of the hip and knee. He has extensive training in joint replacements and performs surgery using some of the latest and most advanced minimally invasive techniques. These procedures include partial knee replacements, anterior hip replacements, hip resurfacing, as well as minimally invasive hip and knee replacements. Dr. Geller performs both primary joint replacement surgery and revisions of failed or painful joint replacements, but only after considering all non-operative treatment options. He also specializes in trauma of the lower extremity including hip fractures, fractures around joint replacements, and fractures related to osteoporosis. Dr. Geller’s other clinical focus is pre-emptive pain control, i.e. preventing post-op surgical pain before it can start, to enable a faster, more comfortable rehab process. Dr. Geller is actively involved in orthopedic research and education and is conducting several large-scale research projects on some of the most advanced topics in joint reconstruction. In addition to teaching medical students and residents, he lectures at national orthopedic conferences and has authored numerous textbook chapters and peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Fiorelli’s practice encompasses a broad range of women's health care including contraceptive management, pre-conceptual counseling, obstetrics, gynecologic issues such as abnormal pap smears, irregular bleeding, and polycystic ovarian syndrome, as well as gynecologic surgery and menopause management. She has a special interest in adolescent gynecology.Dr. Fiorelli chose the field of obstetrics and gynecology because it provides the unique opportunity to focus on the care of women across the lifespan. It is a specialty that allows her to play many roles—scientist, caretaker and surgeon. Dr. Fiorelli works hard to build lasting relationships with her patients. She encourages patient to take an active role in medical treatment decisions and values discussion and a team approach to care planning. Dr. Fiorelli is proud to practice at Columbia where the hospital is dedicated to excellence. Dr. Fiorelli graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as the highest achieving female student in her class. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, where she was awarded the Resident of the Year Award in 2007. Dr. Fiorelli joined the faculty at Columbia upon completion of her residency. She is the mother of three young children, all of whom were delivered at Columbia.

Karan Dua, MD is an Orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of structures affecting the form and function of the entire arm. Karan is a Brooklyn native, and a proud member of the New York community. After earning his Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from Stony Brook University School of Medicine, he completed an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He has dedicated his career to studying and training in the surgical management of the Upper Extremity. He first completed a Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Upon completion, he trained at Harvard Medical School for his Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Karan is on the forefront of researching and designing innovative, novel surgical techniques for reconstructing the arm. He has an avid interest in open and arthroscopic tendon transfers of the shoulder, complex reconstructions after failed surgery, arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques for nerve decompression including the brachial plexus and around the shoulder blade, and tendon transfers for scapular winging. Karan is a passionate researcher and writer. He has been awarded multiple research grants studying wrist and elbow reconstruction techniques, nerve gliding in the upper extremity, and continues to pursue these efforts at Columbia University. He has published over 30 peer reviewed journal articles, authored several book chapters in leading Orthopedic surgery textbooks, and presented his research at national and international conferences. Dr. Dua is a participating member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). Karan strives to help his patients achieve their functional goals and works rigorously to improve their experience. He strongly believes in incorporating new technologies to accomplish this, and works in a collaborative manner with his colleagues to create unique treatment plans that are specifically tailored to each patient. He continues to foster an inclusive care environment while developing meaningful relationships with the members of this community.
