History

How It All Began We started as NYC weekenders in 1980 and fell in love with the idea of living and owning a business in Rhinebeck, NY. In the spring of 1987 we sold our Manhattan co-op and moved upstate full time. While Dick continued to work for the same company focusing on the Hudson Valley as his new territory Barbara resigned from her love of fashion in design and merchandising and traveling to Europe, the Orient and Central America. One East Market Street Barbara and I loved the building called One East Market Street and wanted to see it restored. In 1995 we purchased this beautiful and historic 3 story building and in 2000 we started restoring the building with the guidance of Warren Temple Smith a wonderful Architect. At that time of purchase there was no heat, electric, plumbing or separate stair case to the 2nd and 3rd floors.
