SpecialtiesI work with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals, using a practical problem-solving approach to address a wide variety of issues. I have helped many couples improve their relationships and resolve their conflicts through better communication and workable compromises. Most of my work is in the following areas. Occupational issues -- career changes, job search, workplace conflict, performance improvement. Emotional Concerns: depression, anxiety, grief, anger. Relationship problems: dating, commitment issues, family/partner conflict. Stress management and relaxation techniques. Most clients I see between three and six months, longer or shorter depending on the complexity and severity of their concerns. I tend to be most effective with clients who play an active role in their treatment: coming to sessions having thought about what they want to address; and having worked on issues between sessions which may involve things like stress reduction techniques, mood-tracking, or reading a self-help book. Based on over two decades of experience as a therapist in private practice, I've found that if a client and I are working well together, one can expect to see some initial improvement within a few weeks. As I see it, the goal of an effective therapy is to help clients fully understand the dynamics of a particular problem so they can have a greater degree of constructive control over their lives.
