P.S. 142 Amalia Castro is a public school that provides educational classes to more than 400 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It offers various academic programs, including reading reform, Project Read, creative writing, scholastic reads, music and Reading Excellence Act grant program. The school has a parent-teacher association that works to strengthen public education through parent and community involvement. It offers various extracurricular activities, including extended-day care program, art, music, dance, drama, basketball, counseling and Head Start.
