Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market

History

The Mid-Hudson Children's Museum opened the Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market in summer 2017 to connect City residents and families with fresh, affordable and locally-produced food. In doing so, it became the first children's museum in the country to open and operate a public farmers market as a strategy for fighting urban food insecurity and advancing community health.

The Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market is a seasonal summer Market that is held in the covered pavilion of the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum. It operates weekly on Monday afternoons from 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm, June through Labor Day. The Market showcases and celebrates the agricultural bounty of the Hudson Valley and features vegetables, fruits, eggs, poultry, cheese, baked goods, maple products, wine, craft beer and more. Every Market features a free Kids Kitchen program for children and their grown ups in which they learn to shop the market and then use ingredients to create a simple, healthy recipe. The Market also features fabulous prepared food vendors and live music provided by local musicians. The Market is steps away from both the Poughkeepsie Train Station, The Walkway Over the Hudson elevator, and two city parks - making the Market accessible to City residents, families visiting the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum, and tourists alike.
