Dr. Philip Roth is Chairman of Pediatrics and Vice President of Medical Education at Staten island University Hospital. He is a Neonatologist specializing in the care of newborn infants with a variety of medical problems. Dr. Roth has had a particular interest in neonatal infection and nutrition especially breastfeeding and has been involved in studies in both areas. Through the residency program at SIUH, he actively participates in the training of tomorrow's pediatricians. In addition, he oversees all educational programs for all residents and medical students at the hospital. Dr. Roth has been a member of the Perinatal section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Program Advisory committee of the March of Dimes and the Committee on Fetus and Newborn of his regional section of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has been recognized in the Best Doctors issue of New York magazine on numerous occasions.

Jonathan Abraham Blau, MD

Dr. Blau earned his medical degree from the Stony Brook University School of Medicine and subsequently completed pediatric residency at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He went on to complete his fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, where he served as Chief Fellow. Among his notable achievements are the establishment of one of the first donor human milk programs for premature newborns in the New York area, the formalization of multi-disciplinary, family-centered rounds in the NICU, and the expansion of neonatology services to include twelve talented neonatal advanced care providers. He also authored two impactful antibiotic stewardship protocols that have since been adopted by all NICUs throughout Northwell Health's Neonatology service line. A dedicated academician, Dr. Blau has published 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His commitment to academic medicine is further evidenced by his leadership as President of the New York Perinatal Society from 2019-2023. In recognition of his research accomplishments, Dr. Blau was inducted into the prestigious Society for Pediatric Research in 2021. Recognizing his leadership potential, he was nominated for the Northwell Physician Leadership Development Program (PLDP) which he completed in 2019. That same year he was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Throughout his 14-year tenure at SIUH, Dr. Blau has consistently received recognition for his exceptional work as a physician leader, clinician, educator, and researcher. His accolades include the March of Dimes Mission Family Choice Award (2014), the Northwell Health Outstanding Teacher Award (2017), and the SIUH Physician ACP Advocacy Award (2022). In 2019, he was honored as the SIUH Physician of the Year finalist and received the Northwell Health President's Award. A testament to his dedication to compassionate care and humanism in medicine, Dr. Blau was nominated by his peers for lifetime membership in the Gold Foundation Humanism Honor Society.
