The Paul Smith's College Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) was established in 1989 to educate visitors about Adirondack ecosystems. Situated in Paul Smiths, NY, the VIC showcases the unique Heron Marsh, surrounded by various ecosystems, providing easy access to the beauty of the Adirondacks without extensive hiking.
Initially a State-funded facility, the VIC transitioned to Paul Smith’s College in 2010. Offering diverse public programming, environmental education for schools, and free access to trails in summer, it has expanded its offerings to include Nordic skiing, arts programs, and research initiatives, becoming a hub for lifelong learning.
With over 30 miles of trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing, the VIC also hosts the Paul Smith’s College Nordic Team at its Biathlon Range. Renowned for its architecture, the VIC serves as a gateway to the Adirondacks, providing exceptional learning experiences for students and visitors alike.

Love the outdoors? Great place to spend The afternoon. Great all year round. Visit butterflies, walk-through Pineneedles underneath our trees and well marked trails. Visit Paul Smith College...

Excellent nature center that offers hiking, skiing, horse drawn sleigh and wagon rides, live music, food on occasion, and a lot more. Highly recommend.
