Paul L. Baron, MD, is Chief of breast surgery and Director of the breast cancer program at Lenox Hill Hospital. An accomplished breast surgical oncologist, Dr. Baron specializes in high risk patients and oncoplastic surgery. His goals are to oversee the expansion and enhancement of the hospital s breast surgery services and it's multidisciplinary breast cancer program. The Breast Cancer Center of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, is one of the largest oncology programs in the New York metro area.Throughout his career, Dr. Baron has actively engaged in advancing the field of oncology. He has published more than 120 articles and abstracts on various cancer-related topics and has been invited to speak at more than 60 national conferences. He has received more than $3.3 million in grant funding for medical research from such high-profile sources as the American Cancer Society and the Department of Defense and holds two patents in the area of cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is affiliated with numerous distinguished professional societies, including The American College of Surgeons, The Society of Surgical Oncology and The American Society of Breast Surgeons, where he serves on the board of directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).Dr. Baron earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Boston University's six-year medical program. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia, where he served as chief surgery resident during his final year. He subsequently pursued a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and was honored with the American Cancer Society s Clinical Oncology Fellowship Award for his work.

Sharon Rosenbaum Smith, MD, is associate chief of breast surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, a part of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. She performs sentinel lymph node dissection to determine whether breast cancer has spread. I bring a comprehensive care approach that treats the whole patient, says Dr. Rosenbaum Smith. Her treatment plans incorporate exercise, nutrition, and integrative wellness programs such as meditation, massage and yoga. Dr. Rosenbaum Smith earned her medical degree at New York Medical College. She received residency training in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and fellowship training in breast surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Nationally renowned, she has been in practice for more than two decades in New York City. She joined Northwell Health in 2021 to expand Lenox Hill Hospitals multidisciplinary breast cancer program. As part of her team-based approach to care, she collaborates with pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, geneticists, integrative therapists and nurse navigators. Together, we provide individualized treatment plans because no one breast cancer is the same, she says. The diagnosis is also a very stressful time for women, and we work to decrease that stress. In addition to Lenox Hill, Dr. Rosenbaum Smith offers her surgical services and comprehensive treatment plans at the Katz Institute for Women's Heath. Her professional memberships include the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. Dedicated to educating future breast surgeons, she is assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
