Woodward Mental Health Center is a privately held nonprofit orgnaization based in Freeport, N.Y. It serves emotionally disabled children of ages five through 21. Children receive mental health program services with parent and guardian involvement, integrated with special education, behavior management and social skills training. Its wide variety of services includes psychiatric evaluation, psychological evaluation, individual and group psychotherapy and parent group counseling. It also offers special education for all elementary and secondary grades, rehabilitation counseling and prescription and monitoring of psychotropic medication. Founded in 1950, the organization is licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health and the New York State Education Department.

Community Psychiatric Institute is a nonprofit, community-based health care facility that provides treatment for people with mental disabilities. Established in 1972, it offers a range of therapeutic and rehabilitative services to meet the mental, emotional, cognitive and psychological needs of patients. The institute provides money and anxiety management and attention enhancement services. It organizes various activities, such as field trips, arts and crafts sessions, creative writing and drama. Community Psychiatric Institute also organizes exercise and dance classes, as well as various sports activities. It provides assistance with bathing, grooming, clothing, dressing, eating and other activities of daily living. The institute additionally offers training for the development of social, communication and conversation skills. Community Psychiatric Institute provides meals, maintenance and outpatient care services. The institute is located in East Orange, N.J.
