Parks & Recreation Department

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation oversees more than 11,000 miles of state-designated snowmobile trails. It manages a variety of facilities, including parks, historic sites, properties, residences, administration buildings and other supporting infrastructure. The department s capital programs bureau manages new construction and rehabilitation projects of these facilities. Its marine and recreational vehicles bureau conducts training seminars for law enforcement officers from state, county and local levels. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation helps communities to identify, evaluate, preserve and revitalize their historic, archeological and cultural resources. It organizes various social, recreational and educational programs, and has an office in Cohoes, N.Y.
