Northern FCU

History

Back in 1955, a group of New York Air Brake employees founded a credit union in Watertown, New York. Their goal was to create a safe, secure place where employees could grow their savings and obtain loans at reasonable rates. Overtime, the credit union grew, expanding its services and welcoming many more members. In 1982, we became NYAB/TriCounty Federal Credit Union and membership was expanded to include employees and administrators of the 25 school districts, To reflect its growth, the credit union changed its name to Northern Federal Credit Union in 1996. Today, we are popularly known as Northern Credit Union, serving more than 30,000 members throughout North Country and a comprehensive online and mobile banking program. Northern has helped its members by providing the financial services, resources and education they need to achieve their financial goals. From its beginning and far into its future, this has been - and will remain - Northern Credit Union's commitment.
