The North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association (NCUGRHA) is dedicated to researching, preserving, and interpreting the history of the Underground Railroad, slavery, and abolition in northeast New York. Their North Star Underground Railroad Museum showcases exhibits and videos that uncover hidden success stories, while their bus tours revisit the escape routes used by those seeking freedom. The museum serves as a reflection of the significance of human freedom and its relevance for present and future generations. The NCUGRHA aims to raise funds to acquire the former property of Stephen Keese Smith, a Quaker Abolitionist and Underground Railroad Conductor. Through their efforts, they strive to save this slice of history and continue their mission of educating the public about the Underground Railroad's impact along the Upper Hudson River-Champlain and Canal-Lake Champlain corridor.
