Niche Program
Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystems Elders (NICHE) is a national program based at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing in New York, NY. With a mission to create age-friendly healthcare services for older adults in the United States, NICHE offers a nursing practice model that empowers nurses to lead meaningful changes in the design and delivery of nursing care. By integrating evidence-based practice guidelines and developing geriatric nursing competences, NICHE aims to improve clinical outcomes, reduce the cost of care, and meet national quality goals.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Mattia J. Gilmartin, PhD, RN, FAAN, NICHE has grown into a 500-member organization dedicated to promoting age-friendly nursing care. With a background in nursing, research, and teaching, Gilmartin brings a wealth of experience in analyzing complex problems and translating theory into practice. NICHE membership is available to healthcare delivery organizations, providing access to resources and tools for implementing the program and achieving better care and outcomes for older adult patients.
