The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) Police Department, established in 1984, is dedicated to ensuring the safety of transportation within the Niagara Frontier region of New York State. As a provider of public transportation for Erie, Niagara, and Genesee counties, the NFTA operates a bus and rail transit system, as well as manages the Buffalo International Airport and Niagara Falls International Airport.

With a team of 83 sworn officers and three civilian personnel, the NFTA Transit Police Department is authorized to exercise police powers and duties in traffic and criminal matters within Erie, Niagara, and Genesee Counties. Committed to open communication with the community, the department encourages the public to provide information and maintains a strong focus on public safety.
