Monica Girotra, MD

I am a board-certified dermatologist with advanced fellowship training in cutaneous oncology, Mohs surgery, dermatologic surgery, and laser surgery. I specialize in the surgical treatment of early-stage melanoma and high risk non-melanoma skin cancers. I am the Director of Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Mohs surgery is a specialized surgical technique with high cure rates for high risk skin cancers allowing precise removal of skin cancers while preserving the surrounding healthy tissue.

I have been practicing interventional radiology since 1998, and joined the division of interventional radiology and image guided therapies at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2002. As an expert in interventional oncology, I use minimally invasive procedures performed with image guidance to diagnose and treat cancer patients with minimal side effects, complications, and discomfort.

Dr. Cordeiro is a leader in the area of oncologic reconstructive surgery at a national and international level. He served as Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering for 15 years. During this time he oversaw the clinical and research activities of the service as well as the fellowship training program in breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
