Long Island Cares

Founded in 1980, Long Island Cares is one of the leading antihunger organizations in Long Island, N.Y. It is a nonprofit, community-based organization that works in association with various charitable agencies to serve Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York. The organization provides emergency food assistance and sponsor programs for individuals and families. Long Island Cares conducts several hunger education programs for the public and offers on-the-job training for students and young adults. Additionally, the organization operates a food bank that serves various agencies, including food pantries, emergency shelters, and senior and day care centers. It serves men, women, children, senior citizens, and physically and developmentally disabled individuals, as well as provides an after-school program for children. Long Island Cares is located in Hauppauge, N.Y.
