The Lexis Service, one of the first commercial, full-text legal information services, began in 1973 to assist legal practitioners with researching law more efficiently. In 2004, the company acquired Interface Software, an Illinois-based organization. LexisNexis is headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio.
