The Leon Levy Preserve, located in South Salem, NY, encompasses 383 acres of diverse forest and wetland, contributing to the drinking water supply for both New York City and Stamford. Established in 2005 with significant funding from the Jerome Levy Foundation and the Dextra Baldwin McGonagle Foundation, this protected land serves as a vital natural resource and recreational space for the community.
Visitors can explore an extensive trail system, discover the historical ruins of the Black mansion, and enjoy the newly established native plant garden. The preserve is home to rich wildlife habitats, a ravine with cliffs, and rare plant species, all contributing to its ecological significance and beauty.

What an amazing little find it has an old mansion ruins which was fun for the kids a chemistry lab and a beautiful overlook of a deep gorge. I found this to be magical.
