John Salazar Schicchi, MD

Dr. Jennifer Cunningham is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and an Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. Her primary clinical and teaching responsibilities include the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Pulmonary Consultation, Critical Care Consultation, Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Ventilator Management Consultation. She serves as the Attending Coordinator for the MICU-B Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Program, Ventilator Management Team and CARE Teams. She also serves on the Subcommittee on Critical Care Therapeutics and has participated in and served on Data Safety Monitoring Board for numerous research projects.

Dr. Parekh is an Assistant Professor Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care. She received both her B.A. and M.D. degrees from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, as part of the 8-year Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME). She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Parekh is dedicated to providing excellent care to patients with pulmonary disease and critical care needs. She is a clinician educator and serves as the Medical Director of Critical Care Education in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Her clinical expertise includes pulmonary diseases, critical care, respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and critical care ultrasound.

Dr. Cummings is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Columbia University. His research interests lie at the intersection of infectious diseases and critical illness in sub-Saharan Africa, a low-income region where the global burden of severe infectious diseases is overwhelmingly concentrated. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Cummings' led the first prospective studies to characterize the clinical epidemiology of severe and critical COVID-19 in the U.S. and Uganda, and served as a co-investigator for international clinical trials of convalescent plasma and hyperimmune immunoglobulin in severe COVID-19.
