John Mascarenhas, MD

Ronald Hoffman, MD, is the Albert A. and Vera G. List Professor of Medicine, Professor of Medicine (Hematology and Medical Oncology), and Director of the Myeloproliferative Disorders Research Program. He founded this program in 2007 and has developed it into one of the most effective and well respected programs in the world dealing with myeloproliferative disorders. His interest in this group of blood cancers stemmed from his time as a fellow in Hematology at Mount Sinai (1974-1977.), where he worked with numerous Mount Sinai faculty including Drs. Ralph Zalusky, Esmail Zanjani, and Lewis Wasserman. After holding administrative positions at several other institutions, Dr. Hoffman retuned to Mount Sinai in 2007 to work in the laboratory and the clinics in order to focus on translational research in blood cancers. He continues to care for patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms on a daily basis.

Dr. Sundar Jagannath is Director of the Center of Excellence for Multiple Myeloma and Professor of Medicine (Hematology and Medical Oncology) at The Tisch Cancer Institute. Dr. Jagannath is a renowned expert in the research and treatment of multiple myeloma — a relatively rare cancer of the bone marrow. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Jagannath served as chief of the multiple myeloma and transplant program at St. Vincent’s Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center from 1998 until the hospital closed in April 2010. The transplant program, with stored stem cells of more than 300 patients, and the myeloma program with ongoing clinical trials, have been integrated into The Tisch Cancer Institute.

Marina Kremyanskaya, MD, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She serves as the medical director for the inpatient oncology unit at The Mount Sinai Hospital, where she provides medical oversight in the management of hospitalized cancer patients. Dr. Kremyanskaya’s clinical focus is on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other myeloid malignancies such as myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and other myeloid blood cancers.
