Dr. Weingarten attended medical school at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine and trained at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Internal Medicine, including an additional year in Transplant Pulmonology. He returned to New York and completed his training at Columbia University Medical Center in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.Dr. Weingarten's clinical focus is Sleep Medicine; he has been the Director of the Center for Sleep Disorders at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital since 2009 and sees the full spectrum of sleep disorders. He is also clinically active in Critical Care Medicine, rounding in the medical ICU as an intensivist.His research interests are varied, but include observational and clinical trials in Sleep Medicine, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
