Jeffrey A Ascherman, MD

Dr. Lindsey Bordone is a board-certified dermatologist in the Department of Dermatology of Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) who sees patients at ColumbiaDoctors Midtown and at the CUMC main campus. Dr. Bordone has expanded the clinical activities of the department specifically in the area of adult general dermatology managing all conditions of the skin, hair, and nails including among others acne, psoriasis, eczema, and skin allergies. Dr. Bordone graduated from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Columbia University and then received her MD from Rutgers University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She was a melanoma research fellow in the Department of Dermatology at CUMC before completing two years of residency in Internal Medicine and a three-year residency in Dermatology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Bordone is a Member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association and the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York.

Imo J. Akpan, M.D. graduated from Swarthmore College with a B.A. in Chemistry. Prior to enrolling in medical school she was involved in iron biology research at the Children's Hospital Boston where she helped to describe a mouse-model for anemia of inflammation by studying the role of hepcidin in iron homeostasis. Dr. Akpan received her medical degree from The University of Illinois (UIC) at Chicago College of Medicine and received “The Michael and Kate Bárány Research Award” for research supported by the American Society of Hematology and the UIC Craig Research Award. Dr. Akpan then enrolled in the Physician-Scientist Training Program at Northwestern University/McGaw Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois where she did her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology. Subsequently, she did an Advanced Hematology/Oncology Research fellowship as a K12 Physician Scientist Scholar at The University of Chicago Medical Center where she also worked as a Clinical Instructor. Dr. Akpan’s clinical and research expertise spans several blood disorders, including anemia (any type of anemia in addition to auto immune hemolytic anemia), iron disorders (high iron levels and iron deficiency), sickle cell disease, thalassemia, PNH, platelet disorders including ITP, high hemoglobin, high platelet, white blood cell disorders and, bleeding and clotting disorders including Anti phospholipid antibody syndrome. Dr. Akpan provides consultation for patients with complex bleeding or clotting issues undergoing surgeries and blood disorders in patients with a history of bariatric surgery. She works closely with her pregnant patients and works closely with obstetricians and other members of the inter-disciplinary team. Dr. Akpan co-leads the Women’s clinic for blood disorders at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, a dedicated clinic for women experiencing blood disorders including heavy menstrual bleeding, thrombocytopenia in pregnancy, anemia in pregnancy, blood clots and anticoagulation management during pregnancy, among others. Dr. Akpan is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. She has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has spoken at clinical and research conferences across the country. Dr. Akpan is an avid runner and was inducted into the Swarthmore College Garnet Athletics Hall of Fame for Track and Field in 2013.

Dr. Jarrod T. Bogue is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves as an assistant program director of the plastic surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell-Columbia. Recognized as a Rising Star in the 2024 SuperDoctors New York listings, Dr. Bogue continues to make significant contributions to plastic surgery, dedicated to enhancing patient outcomes and fostering the growth of future surgical leaders. He is dedicated to caring for his patients and advancing the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery through clinical practice, research and education. Dr. Bogue graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Rochester in 2010, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics with distinction in research. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction in research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2015. During his medical education, he was awarded a prestigious National Institutes of Health TL1 fellowship, which supports trainees pursuing careers in clinical and translational science. Following medical school, Dr. Bogue matched into one of the top plastic surgery residency programs and completed the integrated six-year plastic surgery residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Cornell-Columbia, where he served as chief resident in his final year. His exceptional leadership and commitment to patient care were recognized with the Distinguished Housestaff Award from the New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council in 2021. He then went on to further hone his skills in complex reconstructive surgery during a fellowship in microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Bogue's passion for global health has led him on surgical missions to Kathmandu, Nepal and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he collaborated with local surgeons through ReSurge International to improve surgical education and care. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Bogue is an active researcher. He leads a research group specializing in orthoplastic surgery, limb salvage, and sarcoma reconstruction. Thus far his research group has produced several publications in leading plastic surgery journals in addition to presentations at regional and national plastic surgery meetings. His research efforts demonstrate his commitment to advancing the field of orthoplastic surgery. Dr. Bogue is passionate about mentoring the next generation of plastic surgeons, actively engaging with residents and medical students at Columbia University Medical Center. Known for his compassionate approach and technical proficiency, he specializes in microsurgery, orthoplastic surgery, breast reconstruction, trauma and cancer reconstruction.
