Jaren's Piano Lessons

History

I established my piano teaching studio since graduating from UC Berkeley in 2016, and have been based at 1345 MLK Ave since 2018.

Specialties

My music lessons have a special approach: we develop a solid foundation of musicianship and music theory, while learning pieces that you truly love and are excited to play. I have a strong classical background, but I stand out as a teacher in the realms of contemporary songs, jazz, and improvisation. My students learn pieces that are meaningful to them, and through our musicianship work we develop skills that can be used for songwriting, performing in jazz ensembles, or accompanying their singing voice on the piano. I'm also an expert in producing electronic music and beats using digital audio software, and can teach this popular skill on its own, or in conjunction with piano lessons. My software of choice is Ableton, and I can help you find affordable options.
