Dr. Mangi is the Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. This work was recognized by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. He completed his fellowship in cardiac surgery at Columbia and was appointed as an Associate Staff Cardiac Surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic. He was also appointed as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Temple University where he led the heart and lung transplant programs. He was recruited to the Yale Medical School where he led the Center for Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support and the Heart Valve Program. In 2020 he was appointed Professor of Surgery at Yale. From there he was recruited to chair the cardiac surgery program at Medstar Health in Washington DC. Dr. Mangi has been invited to speak at conferences and symposia worldwide. He is the author or co-author of numerous book chapters on subjects related to his specialty interests, including advances in cardiac intensive care, cardiac surgery, assist devices and treatment of heart failure. He has authored or co-authored almost two hundred published studies in peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Mangi serves on multiple institutional, national and international committees, scientific advisory boards and editorial boards.
