Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Syracuse! The oxtail was unbelievably tender and flavorful--perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The jerk chicken had just the right kick with...

Jamaica Cuse, located in Syracuse, NY, is a restaurant bar that will be closing its downtown location after almost six years due to the decision not to renew its lease. The restaurant, a spinoff of the successful meat market butcher shop on Syracuse's North Side, will remain open for a few more weeks before closing its doors. The owners, Jeff Steigerwald and Chuck Madonna, may consider finding another downtown location for a future restaurant but currently have no immediate plans.
The original Liehs Steigerwald's butcher shop, which has been in operation since 1936, remains open and is thriving. The downtown location, which opened in 2015, offered a menu featuring burgers, pastrami sandwiches, German specialties, and a selection of beer and wine. Over time, the food market section was downsized, and additional offerings such as coffee and ice cream were added. The restaurant space is now available for lease, providing an opportunity for a new business to establish itself in the McCarthy Building.
