Sun-Vet Engine Company #127 was established in April 1985 in response to the growing need for fire service in the Holbrook community, particularly as housing and business developments increased. Named after its location near the intersection of Sunrise Hwy. and Veteran's Memorial Hwy., the company consists of dedicated members who previously served in the original Lightning Engine Co. #1 and Jupiter #27. Under the leadership of Captain Thomas Civale and Lieutenant George Christensen Jr., Sun-Vet Engine Company faced the challenge of building a cohesive team while ensuring rigorous training and community engagement. Despite initial difficulties, their commitment to recruitment and service solidified Sun-Vet as a vital asset to both the Holbrook Fire Department and the broader community.
