History The Ness-Sibley Funeral Home was founded in 1950 by Ralph B. Ness. In addition to gently guiding families through funeral services of loved ones, Mr. Ness is a devoted husband and father of 4 children. He is a communicant at St. James Roman Catholic Church and served the community as Trustee and later as Mayor for the Village of Trumansburg. In 1992 Mr. Ness made the decision to entrust the ownership of his business to Joseph L. Sibley. A native of the Adirondacks, Mr. Sibley has served communities in Forest Forest Hills NY, Carthage NY, Monterey, CA and Ithaca, NY. As a Trumansburg village resident he enjoys the time spent with his wife and 2 children. He is a member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church, the Trumansburg Area Chamber of Commerce, the Finger Lakes Funeral Directors Association and the NYS Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Sibley strives to be innovative while preserving the tradition of trust, comfort and understanding that have long been the hallmark of the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home. As the only family owned and operated funeral home in Trumansburg, Mr. Sibley understands those he is privileged to serve because they are his friends and neighbors.
