The site of an early 20th-century farm, Helmer Nature Center was formerly a school before it became a part of WICSD in 1973. It has operated as a wildlife preserve and outdoor classroom ever since.
Helmer Nature Center is an environmental educational facility which operates as a part of the West Irondequoit School District. We provide educational programming to students as well as events for the public. Our 42 acres of land includes 1.3 miles of easy to hike trails and houses local wildlife.
