The Hebrew Educational Society, also known as HES, is a nonprofit, Jewish community center that serves more than 700 individuals on a daily basis. Founded in 1899, it provides social, child care and recreational programs. The center also offers food services for senior citizens in southeastern Brooklyn in New York. The Hebrew Educational Society serves immigrants, single-working parents and at-risk youths, as well as individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. It hosts local community and civic group meetings. The center s clients include the Brooklyn Hebrew Society and the United South Canarsie Civic Association. The Hebrew Educational Society provides swimming, sports and after-school programs. In addition, it conducts group learning sessions and summer camps. The center operates an early childhood facility that features indoor and outdoor playgrounds. The Hebrew Educational Society is a member of the UJA-Federation of New York.
