Established in 1932 by its namesake, who would often carry a multimillion-dollar stone in his own pocket, Harry Winston is one of the world s largest and most renowned jewelry empires. Its famed gems have included the Hope Diamond, the Star of Sierra Leone and nearly 60 other stones among the world s more than 300 major diamonds. The company s jewelry, which also includes rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pearls, has often been worn at public appearances by celebrities. In addition to its more exclusive jewelry, the company also maintains extensive wholesales agreements with a number of other jewelers. Harry Winston s specialized operations of cutting the rough diamond, polishing, designing and creating the finished jewel are all conducted at its building on New York s famous Fifth Avenue. The company also operates retail stores in New York, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, Switzerland, Japan and Taiwan. In 2004 Aber Diamond Corporation purchased a majority interest in Harry Winston.
