Hannah Jolley, MD

Dr. Dowdle is the Director of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Stamford Hospital and Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York Medical College. He has been recognized as one of the Top Doctors in Fairfield County, Top Doctors in Connecticut, America’s Top Surgeons, America’s Top Orthopaedists and America’s Top Doctors. Dr Dowdle has published multiple articles in the field of hand surgery. He specializes in the treatment of hand and wrist disorders in all age groups. He has a particular interest in small joint arthroscopy and minimally invasive treatments for multiple disorders including Dupuytren’s disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist fractures. He has introduced several new treatments and surgical techniques to the Stamford medical community. In addition to his clinical practice, he has lent his expertise as a team physician for Manhattanville College, the Buick Classic PGA event, the GHI Bronx Tennis Classic ATP event and served as Medical Director for the Nutmeg Games, the Connecticut State Olympics.

Tongalp H. Tezel, MD is the Chang Family Endowed Professor of Ophthalmology and the Director of the Vitreoretinal Service and Fellowship Program at the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Tezel is an internationally known clinician-scientist and a leader in the management of vitreoretinal diseases. Dr. Tezel received his medical degree and initial ophthalmology training in Ankara, Turkey at Hacettepe University, School of Medicine, and completed his ophthalmology residency at Washington University School of Medicine. He later trained under Dr. Stanley Chang and received his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery here at Columbia University. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, the Macula Society, The Retina Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He has received numerous honors, including the Fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (FARVO), American Academy of Ophthalmology's Achievement Award, Alpha Omega Alpha Faculty Membership; Honor Award of the American Society of Retina Specialist, and several Awards for Excellence in Teaching. He is listed on the Best Doctors of America and Castle Connolly's Top Doctor Directory. Dr. Tezel's research laboratory focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms of various retinal diseases. His main research interests include gene therapy for age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, retinal stem cell transplantation, angiogenesis, pharmacologic vitreolysis, and tissue engineering. He has developed several techniques used for tissue engineering and retinal cell replacement therapies, awarded numerous patents for his contributions. Recently, he has embarked on gene treatment and tissue engineering trials for macular degeneration. Dr. Tezel is an ad-hoc reviewer for several journals in his field and has been contributing to the development of the vitreoretinal field with several publications, presentations, and invited lectures.

Dr Krishnan initially did her medical school, residency, and fellowship training in India. Subsequent to that she moved to the United States to complete her pediatrics residency at New York medical college and her Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at Columbia University. She then returned to India to head the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Madras Medical Mission in Chennai India. She set up the first fellowship program, training Indian and international fellows in Pediatric Cardiology in India and getting accreditation for Pediatric Cardiology with the National board of Education in New Delhi. She also co-founded the Pediatric Cardiology Society of India. In 2001 Dr Krishnan moved back to New York to take a faculty position at New York Medical College. She left there is 2010 to take a position at Columbia University in 2010 where she is currently. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics as well as an Associate Medical Director of the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Center which is the first accredited pediatric and adult pulmonary hypertension center in the United States. In addition to clinical responsibilities, she is actively involved in medical education at every level. She is closely involved with the Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at Columbia University and is the director of the fellowship Clinical Competency Committee, which oversees fellow education and training. She is the director of medical student and resident education in Pediatric Cardiology and is closely involved with the Foundations in Clinical Medicine and Major Clinical Year training at the medical school. She was inducted to the Virginia Apgar Society of Medical Educators at Columbia University in 2018. She is also actively involved in research, both in Pulmonary Hypertension and Pediatric Cardiology and is PI/co-investigator in multiple clinical trials, both NIH sponsored and other grants. She has co-authored over 50 papers and has multiple invited lectures to her credit. She is actively involved in the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Network and in multiple research activities of the network. She is involved in curriculum development for a Pulmonary Hypertension education series. She is involved in teaching e-learning courses for international fellows in Pediatric Cardiology through the Children’s heart link. She is on the editorial board of several journals including the Annals of Pediatric Cardiology and the Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension, and is a reviewer for multiple other journals.
