Founded in 1988, Hands Across Long Island, also known as HALI is a nonprofit mental health organization that helps more than 6,500 consumers annually. The organization works to promote independent living, peer support, advocacy, socialization, education and vocational opportunities. Hands Across Long Island maintains over 30 self-help groups that provide self-help, facilitator and computer training, patient advocacy, emotional support, pre-arrest, transportation, and information and referral services programs.
