History

The 34th Street Partnership rebuilt Herald and Greeley Squares in 1999, which had become little more than concrete wastelands. The Squares now form the bow-tie at the heart of the 34th Street district. The statue of Horace Greeley in Greeley Square and the 1895 clock in Herald Square, both historic bronze monuments, were also restored and the parks landscaped with flowerbeds and shrubs. The Squares are equipped with movable Paris-style chairs and tables, and free programming and events courtesy of the 34th Street Partnership. So dirty. My least favorite "park" in the city. Have had so many unsafe experiences just walking by here.
