Goodhue Center - the Children's Aid Society

Goodhue Center, located in Staten Island, N.Y., offers a range of programs to children. The school offers a five-day after school program for children of ages five through 12, and children may attend the program every day or choose only days that are convenient for the family. The program provides care for children in the afternoon hours and provides respite to working parents. The children participate in structured homework time and a variety of classes and recreational activities, such as sports, cooking, woodshop, gardening, drama, nature education, and arts and crafts. They are also offered a multimedia arts program, including instruction in animation, robotics, filmmaking and use of the center s radio station. The center also operates a mental health clinic for families with children ages six through 16 experiencing conflict at home, school or in the neighborhood. Its professionally trained social workers provide counseling services to parents and children.
