David C. Ritterband MD, FACS is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Prior to joining Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH)/Northwell Eye Institute, he was a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai and System Director of the Refractive Surgery Service for the Mount Sinai Health System. At MEETH he has assumed leadership of the Refractive Surgery division and the Laser Vision Correction Center and sees patients at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital on 64th Street. Dr. Ritterband is a graduate of Duke University and received his medical degree at New York Medical College where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at New York Medical College where he was elected Chief Resident. He completed his Corneal and External disease and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Eye and Ear Institute. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is a past president of the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group and a long time Medical Board member of the Eye Bank for Sight Restoration in New York City, the world's first Eye Bank. In addition to maintaining a busy tertiary-care referral practice in New York City, Dr. Ritterband is a nationally recognized physician, scientist, and surgeon. He has published over 250 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, monographs, and research abstracts. He has lectured widely in the United States on cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery topics. His clinical and research interests include cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, ocular drug development, laser refractive surgery, and ocular infections. A committed teacher and mentor, he has trained over 50 clinical cornea fellows first at the highly regarded AUPO certified corneal fellowship program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and continuing with the current AUPO corneal fellowship program at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Ritterband has received numerous awards including an Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been named multiple times to New York Magazine's Best Doctors, Castle Connolly's Top Doctors, and the NY Times Magazine's Super Doctors. In addition, while at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary he received 6 Resident Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service Awards.

Dr. O is a pediatric and adult facial plastic surgeon whose practice is two-fold: she is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment (medical and surgical) of hemangiomas and vascular lesions. She also manages all forms of facial paralysis.She is co-Director of the Facial Nerve Center and a doctor in the Vascular Birthmark Institute of New York (VBINY) at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospitals. While working with Dr. Milton Waner at VBINY, she saw many children and adults with facial paralysis. This led to an interest and further training in facial nerve reanimation techniques at the Massachusetts Eye, and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts.Dr. O is involved in basic science and clinical research. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and textbook chapters. She is also a peer reviewer for various specialty journals. Her research involves the pathogenesis of hemangiomas and the development of directed treatments. She is also involved in clincal research in facial paralysis.Dr. O is active in teaching residents and fellows. She is a member of several specialty societies such as ISSVA (International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies), Sir Charles Bell Society (Facial nerve disorders), AMA (American Medical Association), and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She serves on various committees at the Academy. She is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.What to expect:You will be greeted by a warm and helpful office team. The waiting room is sun-filled and child and adult friendly. We are ideally situated at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital on the upper east side of New York City near bus and subway lines.Dr. O approaches each patient as an individual. She will take a thorough history and physical exam. This will include a full head and neck examination with relevant imaging, and photography/video. If necessary, further investigative tests may be indicated, such as blood testing, MRI or CT imaging, or nerve conduction or electrical muscle studies.Your case may be discussed at a multidisciplinary conference comprised of various specialties in order to discuss the best treatment plan. Our team includes diagnostic and interventional radiology, medicine, plastic and oculoplastic surgery.Dr. O's approach to care:Dr. O is an advocate of a multidisciplinary team approach to care.
