Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES) is a neighborhood housing and preservation organization that has been dedicated to serving the Lower East Side of Manhattan since 1977. Focused on empowering low- and moderate-income residents, particularly people of color, GOLES engages the community through direct services, public education, and grassroots organizing.

Great spot for volunteer opportunities if you're the type who like to help out the community. Beware that it may seem rather disorganized, especially if there is a big turnout of volunteers....
