Gittel has 15 years of experience working with the Hassidic community in Rockland County and has recently relocated to NYC.

Specialties

I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, OCD, and trauma. In treatment I draw heavily on CBT and mindfulness, but most of all my approach is very Rogerian/Client-Centered. Empathy is at the core of my work; my main goal is to understand things from your perspective. I trust that the solution to resolving the difficulties in your life lies within you; we just need to help you unlock it. I also specialize in child psychotherapy and offer parenting groups in the form of Filial Play Therapy; a modality where I train you, the parent, to conduct play therapy sessions with your child. Learning how to conducting these sessions encourages a deeper understanding of your child, and in turn boosts your confidence in your parental instincts. Finally, I've developed a preventative program that teaches children and adults how think in healthy ways, deal with their emotions effectively, and develop healthy social interactions by learning empathy and problem solving skills. These lessons are offered in what feels like simple game play and story time.
