Frenkel & Company

History

Frenkel & Company was founded as a marine insurance brokerage in 1878 by Emil Frenkel, a German immigrant. His sons, George and Leo, embraced Emil's course of entrepreneurial leadership. Together, they established Frenkel's reputation in the New York insurance market, while mentoring the next generation of Frenkel & Company brokers. In 2010, a recapitalization of the firm was successfully completed. The majority interest in Frenkel is held in family trusts managed by Dobbs Management Service, LLC, located in Memphis, Tennesee. A substantial interest in Frenkel is also owned by its current management team, led by Chief Executive Officer John F. Kelly. Today, Frenkel & Company remains independent operating as full service international insurance brokerage.

Our capabilities include comprehensive knowledge of property and casualty markets worldwide, and the evolution of life and benefit products and services. In addition, Frenkel has the distinctive ability to broker marine, environmental, management liability, high net personal lines insurances, and surety. We are also the managing general agent for the Frenkel AIX/Nova Cosmetics Program endorsed by Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD), and the Frenkel/AIG Psychoanalysts Program endorsed by the American Psychoanalytic Association.
