HistoryMarta and her family migrated to the United States in 1997. Marta completed her college and law school education in the United States. She had her own struggles with immigration laws between 1997 and 2009. She understands and relates to her clients' frustration and confusion with the immigration law procedures. In 2001, Marta started to work as a paralegal with her own immigration attorneys, Cohen & Leavitt P.C.. When she entered law school in 2006, she kept working for the firm during school breaks. In law school, while working at St. Thomas University Immigration Clinic, she won her first Asylum Case with the Asylum Office. Her first experience with the Immigration Court resulted in vacating a conviction based on a mistake a state judge made 20 years prior to her hearing. Now, with all her personal and professional experience, Marta finds practicing Immigration Law very rewarding.
