The Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society, established in 1982, is dedicated to preserving the nautical heritage of Fire Island and Long Island, ensuring that the Fire Island Lighthouse and Keepers Quarters Visitor Center remain an integral part of Long Island maritime history.
Through education and capital improvements, the Society works to protect this important landmark that served as a guiding light for transatlantic ships entering New York Harbor, and was often the first sight of land for European immigrants arriving in America.
