Fairview Fire District is a 5.5 square mile area in the Town of Greenburgh, bounded by Valhalla in the north, the City of White Plains and the Metro North Railroad in the east, the Hartsdale Fire District and the Village of Ardsley in the south, and the Village of Elmsford and the New York State Thruway in the west. It is the largest fire district in the Town.Fire District is a political subdivision of the State of New York, independent from the Town of Greenburgh. It was formed in 1927. It is governed by a five-member board of fire commissioners: Robert Fitzgerald, Chair, Vikki R Simmons, James Robinson, Daymon S. Yizer, and Fred Calaicone..Fairview Fire District receives its income solely from taxable properties. Fire Districts cannot receive sales tax revenue or participate in state aid to local governments. The district can and does take the opportunity to apply for grants.Fairview Fire District is comprised of more than 47% tax-exempt properties. The majority of these exempt properties are high life hazard occupancies that require a heightened response such as ;Theodore D. Young Community Center Greenburgh Town Hall Greenburg Public LibraryPlease note that facilties that are asterisked voluntarily participates in payment in lieu of taxes ( PILOT ) program. PILOT programs greatly reduce the burden on taxpayers.The Fairview Fire Department is a combination fire and rescue department comprised of 45 career members and 16 volunteers members. The Department responds to approximately 2, 500 calls per year. We provide fire suppression, inspect public occupancies, and respond to Hazardous Material Incidents. The department provides EMT-B ( defibrillator certified ) medical services with Greenburgh Police Department. The Fairview Fire Department and Greenburgh Police Department jointly serve on the Greenburgh Technical Rescue Team. The Technical Rescue responds to high-risk rescue operations. The Fire Department has an extensive fire prevention program. We maintain and operate the Fire Safety House with a severe weather simulator, and fire prevention puppets donated by The Niles Agency. Our most recent fire prevention tools is a robotized Sparky donated by Westchester BMW. All of our fire prevention efforts are designed to teach children ( and adults ) about fire safety.Fairview Fire District has two fire stations. The headquarters building is located on Rosemont Boulevard, one block from Tarrytown Rd. ( Route 119 ). The second fire station is located at the intersection of Dobbs Ferry Rd and Worthington Rd. The department has a new ladder / tower, three fire engines, a rescue vehicle, a utility vehicle, and fivepassenger cars.Fairview Engine Company No. 1 is our volunteer division.
