Delicious, cheap, and mostly authentic except for the fact that they use Maseca rather than freshly ground maize.

Evelia’s Tamales, located in Corona, NY, tells the story of Evelia Coyotzi's journey from Tlaxcala, Mexico, to New York City in search of work. Following the closure of her workplace post-9/11, she began making tamales at home to sell from a street cart in Queens each morning, earning a loyal following and catching the eye of Anthony Bourdain.
For two decades, Evelia persevered under the elevated subway tracks, serving commuters before realizing her dream of a storefront in January 2020, which finally opened its doors in March 2022. Today, Evelia's Tamales continues to offer hand-made tortillas crafted from nixtamalized masa and authentic Mexico City tortas.
