Esopus Bend Preserve
Esopus Bend Nature Preserve is a unique 161-acre ecological area located in the Village and Town of Saugerties, positioned along a dramatic bend in the Esopus Creek and less than a mile from the Hudson River. The preserve, which borders Barclay Heights, is seen by approximately 10,000 travelers daily crossing the creek on Route 9W.
The Esopus Creek Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to environmental education, biodiversity, and the conservation of natural habitats, including a bird sanctuary. The area's commitment to preserving the environment is complemented by its focus on engaging youth with nature to address the growing disconnect between children and the outdoors.
