Elmont Engine & Hose Co-Engine 2
Engine Company 3 of the Elmont Fire Department, established in May 1924, was formed by local residents to address the need for fire protection on the East End of Elmont. Originally equipped with a used 1924 American Lafrance pumper and a small wooden garage, the company has evolved significantly over the decades.
Today, Engine Company 3 operates a modern 2010 Ferrari pumper, capable of pumping over 2,000 gallons per minute, and is staffed by 34 active firefighters. Responding to approximately 800 calls annually, the company addresses a variety of emergencies, including fires and auto accidents, from their firehouse located on Meacham Avenue.
