The New York City Housing Authority provides housing in a safe and secure living environment for low- and moderate-income residents throughout the city. The authority also administers a citywide Section 8 Leased Housing Program in rental apartments. It works to enhance the quality of life at the New York City Housing Authority by offering its residents opportunities to participate in a multitude of community, educational and recreational programs, as well as job readiness and training initiatives. The authority provides publicly assisted housing, including traditional public housing and scattered sites. Additionally, the New York City Housing Authority provides its residents a variety of services that promote and develop job and life skills.
