Located in Catskill, N.Y., the Greene County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency that enforces ordinances, safeguards citizens rights, and preserves peace, order and safety. It maintains a dispatch center that is a countywide communication center that answers emergency and nonemergency telephone calls and dispatches law enforcement, ambulance, fire, emergency management, and wild life and park service officers. The Greene County Sheriff's Office is charged with aiding criminal courts, serving civil processes, executing judgments, and marine and snowmobile law enforcement. The office serves various warrants, writs, subpoenas and other orders from the Court of Common Pleas, Court of Appeals, County Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court.

The office of the District Attorney of the County of Dutchess in the state of New York is located in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. It is an independently elected public office and prosecutes on behalf of the People of the State of New York, all crimes committed in the county. It is also responsible for state institutions and correctional facilities. Various bureaus come under its office, including the appeals bureau that is responsible for handling appeals on any criminal case argued in the county courts, appellate division, court of appeals and any federal court that prosecutes all misdemeanor offenses committed in the county.
