The Office of the State Comptroller is responsible for auditing and managing government operations and assets throughout the state of New York. It conducts management and financial audits for the state s agencies and public benefit corporations. The office additionally maintains the state's accounting system and issues monthly cash financial statements, as well as reviews contracts, payrolls and payments. It is also responsible for overseeing fiscal affairs of the local governments and state and federal courts. The office coordinates abandoned property programs, as well as monitors and reports on public entities and related agencies.
