Daniel R. O'Connor, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who has served Brooklyn and Queens community for 30 years. Dr. O'Connor specializes in upper and lower extremity sports and ligament injuries, joint replacement and revision surgery, arthritis and fractures. He has a comprehensive approach to orthopedic problems and utilizes surgical and non-surgical modalities.Born and raised in Brooklyn, Dr. O'Connor developed a passion for problem solving and fixing things as a student at Brooklyn Technical High School. He combined that passion with an interest for science and chemistry in college, which led him to his decision to become a physician and surgeon. After graduating from the Unversidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez Medical School, Dr. O'Connor served a general surgery residency at New York Hospital and Medical Center of Queens, followed by a one year research fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital. He completed his four-year orthopedic surgery residency at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens. His orthopedic training was completed by serving as the Senior Annie C. Kane Fellowship in Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. O'Connor worked as a teaching attending physician at Catholic Medical Center for 15 years, during which time he had the opportunity to share his orthopedic skills and knowledge with the generation of orthopedic surgeons. Dr. O'Connor is board certified in orthopedic surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedics Surgeons, New York State Orthopedic Society, Brooklyn Orthopedic Society , and the Medical Society of the State of New York. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Additionally, Dr. Mejia was the recipient ofthe 2022 Charles, Lillian and Betty Neuwirth Foundation Fellowship in Oncology award for his project “Genomic Landscape of Multiple Myeloma with Extramedullary Disease”. Dr. Mejia’s research also investigates the connectionof race, ethnicity and myeloma, how myeloma escapes the surveillance of the immune system, as well as how genetic information can be used to develop novel approaches to treat myeloma.
