Erin Hassett, ANP-BC is a Nurse Practitioner at Weill Cornell Medicine in Endocrine Surgery. She is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, earning her Master's of Science degree in 2009from New York University. Erin Hassett runs the Adrenal Nodule Clinic which is a uniqueprogram designed to expedite the work-up of adrenal nodules found incidentally on imagingstudies done for other purposes. This includes guiding patients through necessary bloodworkand integrating collaborative evaluations with Endocrinologists, Endocrine Surgeons andRadiologists when appropriate. Erin will assess whether an adrenal nodule is functioning vsnon-functioning, as well as the risk that the nodule might harbor a malignancy.In addition to the Adrenal Nodule clinic, Erin runs the Endocrine Tumor surveillance program,which includes monitoring low-risk thyroid cancer patients undergoing active surveillanceinstead of surgery. Studies have shown that papillary thyroid cancers, and in particularmicropapillary carcinomas, are slow growing and a sub-set of these patients can be safelymonitored, avoiding surgery. After patients are deemed candidates for surveillance they willhave biannual follow up with Erin to monitor a nodule for stability.For patients requiring adrenal, thyroid or parathyroid surgery, Erin will facilitate surgicalplanning and provide long-term follow up care. Erin works closely with her colleagues andpatients to make sure all patients' needs are met.
